Cancer free, ten years later
I really struggled to recover after the surgery. I was facing life with only one lung – a big limitation. But, I was alive. My doctors screened me for cancer remission every month, then every two months and now every year. Ten years later, I am still free of cancer. I am in remission and for all intents and purposes cured of mesothelioma. I am a rare, but proud mesothelioma survivor.
I am thrilled to be alive, to be able to enjoy everything I love about life, especially being with my family. I survived because of many factors, but I believe my ability to get the best treatment and my hope that the aggressive treatment would cure me really helped me live through this disease. I encourage anyone facing this or another type of cancer to never give up hope, to fight to survive. It’s worth it.
